The varsity boy’s golf team continued on a path of playing consistent and improving team golf at yesterday’s fifth divisional jamboree. Played at Ionia’s home course Shadow Ridge Golf Course, the Raiders recorded yet another season best, nine-hole team score of 168 to capture second place behind the divisional leading Hornets of Williamston who shot a 159. Lansing Catholic finished just one stroke behind the Raiders with a 169 to take third. Fowlerville took fourth with a 176; Ionia came in fifth with a 190 and Eaton Rapids did not post a team score.
Scoring for the Raiders was: Zach Pier shot a 39 on the par 35 course; playing in his first jamboree this season, Ryan Lefke shot a five over par 40; Kyle Leonard finished with 44. Ethan Getchell carded a round of 45.
Heading into next week’s final regular season jamboree at the Portland County Club, the divisional standings have: Williamston in first with a 24 & 1 record, Lansing Catholic in second at 20 & 5, Portland is 16 & 9 for third place, Fowlerville is fourth at 9 & 16 and Ionia, in fifth, is 6 & 19. Team will be playing at next week’s jamboree for seeding position and final standings going into the league tournament scheduled for May 23nd.
