Sometimes there’s no place like your home golf course! Played the Portland Country Club, the Raiders varsity boy’s golf team shot a winning and season best team score of 161 to shake up the final jamboree standings in the CAAC White Division heading into next week’s eighteen-hole divisional tournament. Williamston took second place yesterday with a 168 and continued its grip on first place in the divisional race. Lansing Catholic finished in third place with a 178 to have their edge on second place cut to just two points over the Raiders. Fowlerville came in with a fourth place score of 182 and Ionia was fifth with a 205. Eaton Rapids did not have a qualifying team score.
Scoring for the Raiders was: Zach Pier who shot a career best, nine-hole score with a two-under-par 34; Ryan Lefke continue his late season surge with 40; Evan Foreback shot a season best 42 and Kyle Leonard carded a 45 to round out the Portland scoring. The CAAC White Divisional Eighteen-Hole Varsity Boy’s Golf Tournament, where player and team points are doubled, will be played at The Emerald Golf Course near St. Johns next Tuesday, May 22nd.
